The Unexpected Continued (Lydia and Derek)

Lydia fell back onto the floor when Derek pushed her, a piece of wood hitting her back and sending waves of pain through her body. "Ow!" she screamed, glaring up at him with hate in her eyes. She stood up slowly, brushing the dirt off her clothes and glaring at him yet again. "What's wrong with you?" she asked. "This is Dior!" she said, motioning to her dress.

Derek laughs after Lydia's remark,and walks up to her. "After all that's happened,all you care about is your stupid dress? You really need a wake up call." He continues to walk towards her,and after reaching the stairs, he motions for Lydia to follow.

Lydia was still very confused and annoyed that Derek really wasn't going to let her leave. Still under the impression that he was insane or on some sort of drug, she thought that maybe she would indulge him for a little while, and maybe then he would allow her to go home. She followed him up the stairs and waited for him to say something else.

After reaching the top of the stairs, Derek pauses and begins to talk again. "I should probably show you something. You still think I'm on drugs don't you?" He laughs and continues walking towards the half of the house where it's mostly destroyed.

Lydia rolled her eyes and continued to follow Derek. "Yes, I do." she said, whipping her hair over her shoulder and fixing it a little. She looked around her, the walls all covered in black soot from burning down years ago.

Derek stops at a big indentation in the far left wall. He walks up to Lydia,grabs her hand,and places it on the wall. "Concentrate your mind."

Lydia pulled her hand away from the wall and away from Derek's hand. She looked at him, stunned that he would dare to touch her. She didn't know him, and certainly didn't want him touching her right now. "Concentrate on what?" she asked, rolling her eyes and motioning her hand towards the spot on the wall he had made her touch. "It's a wall." she said sarcastically, wiping her hand off on her dress.

Derek scoffed,and thought to himself 'She is such an idiot. How has she not put anything together yet?' He stops his thoughts there and begins to speak. "You really have no idea do you?"

Lydia was growing even more confused each time Derek spoke. She really didn't understand what he was babbling on about, and honestly just wanted to leave. She stared at him for a few moments, trying to figure out what to say next. She searched her mind, but couldn't think of a response and instead, stood there quietly and waited for him to speak again.

Derek sighs and continues to speak. "Werewolves. Scott and Me. Improved strength,smell,sight,hearing. What of any of this do you not get?" He flashes his red eyes at her as the rest of his body begins to shift. Derek figured that if he showed Lydia,she would have a better understanding.

As the word 'werewolves' moved through her ears, Lydia became even more confused. Werewolves didn't exist. But as Derek began to shift in front of her, her confusion quickly turned into fear. She jumped backwards, running to hide in a nearby corner and staring at Derek's new form. Her eyes widened with fear at the sight of a real, live werewolf.

Derek slowly walked closer to Lydia. His intentions were not to scare her,so he leans up against the wall across from her,and crosses his arms. "You don't have to be scared of me." A small smile appears on his face.

Lydia stared at him, half confused and half frightened beyond belief. How in the hell did he expect her to not be afraid of a man that just shifted into some sort of inhuman creature right in front of her. She could do nothing but stare at him. She could find no words. She was frozen in fear.

Derek stands up straight,and lets his human side begin to come back. The hair on the sides of his face and his claws shrink. He slowly walks towards the top of the steps and sighs. He knew that she would never understand,but he wasn't going to give up. The stairs creak as he places his feet on them,and Derek purposely stepped harder on them as he reaches the bottom.

Lydia was still crouched in the dark corner, almost paralyzed. What exactly had she just seen? Who was he, and what did he want with her? She sat there a for a few moments in silence, listening to him descend the stair case and reach the bottom, walking on the nearly rotted floor boards. When she was sure he was far enough away, she slowly stood, tip toeing towards the top of the stairs and looking down, staring at the door. She didnt know what was going on, but she knew she wanted out. She began to walk down the stairs, the each step giving off a loud moan as the stairs creaked beneath her feet. Once she was close enough to the bottom, she broke into a run, lunging for the door.

Derek was caught off guard as Lydia bolts towards the door,but his reflexes allow him to stop her before she reaches it. He grips tightly onto her arm, and looks into her eyes. He could sense the fear coming off of her. "Where do you think you're going?" He loosens his hand a little,but still keeps a steady grip.

Lydia felt paralyzed again as Derek gripped at her arm, but slowly began to sense a feeling of bravery creeping through her veins. She glared into his eyes, slowly moving her leg along the floor to get it in the position she needed it to be. Still glaring at him, she squinted her eyes and prepared to run as his grip on her loosened. "I'm going home." she said forcefully, swinging her knee into the air and connecting in between his legs. Once she had connected, she tore her arm away from his hand, pulling the door open and dashing out of the house.

Lydia ran down the dilapidated stairs, running through the front yard and into the woods. She dashed in between the trees, avoiding fallen tree trunks and jumping over rocks. As she ran, she looked around her frantically, trying to find an opening in the trees or spot a building. Finally eyeing the school in the distance, she dashed towards it, hyperventilating and running as fast as she could to certain safety.

Derek watched in awe as Lydia released from his grasp and started running. He steps onto the porch and peers around the corner. He sees her running faster and faster trying to get away from him. He didn't know if he was supposed to chase after her, or just let her go. Sitting down on the front steps, Derek thinks about what he should do and what he has done.

Lydia continued running through the woods towards the school. She didnt stop or slow down once, afraid that Derek may be following her to catch her and drag her back to that house. She whiped past tree after tree, herhair blowing in all different directions and her feet dodging every fallen tree trunk and rock in her path. Finally reaching the school and exiting the woods, Lydia breathed a sigh of sweet relief, clenching her sides and stopping to rest next to the building. She leaned against the wall, trying to catch her breath and make sense of everything that had just happened to her.
